Lila D. Harstad


Lila is the Owner/ General Manager of KZZJ Radio.  She is involved in Sales, Announcing, and Production.

She started as General Manager of KZZJ Radio in November of 1999 and became the only sole female owner of a Radio Station in North Dakota in January 2003.  Prior to her life at KZZJ Radio, Lila was the owner of 'Communications Network' selling Motorola 2-way Radios.  She has also worked as a salesperson at D&S Motors and The Pierce County Tribune.

Lila grew up in  Minot, and has a daughter Allison and son Arron.
Her hobbies are gardening and walking.
"I love what I do.  It is fun to help promote the Geographical Center of North America and see it grow!"

Bruce Allen

Bruce is the News Director at KZZJ Radio and has been in Rugby since December of 2002. The Local News at KZZJ is second to none in the State!

Bruce also represents Ward 1 on the Rugby City Council. Bruce's wife Mary Ann is a Night Manager at Leevers Foods in Rugby.

Bruce grew up in Madison, South Dakota attended Broadcast School in Austin, Minnesota and worked in news production at KAVT Public TV/Radio. Bruce has worked as a Morning Announcer at KDAK in Carrington, KHND in Harvey, KHOL in Beulah, Middays at KBMW in Whapeton and over 13 years as News Director at KNDK in Langdon.

"I'm happy to be reporting on Local News events in Rugby.  It's a great community with so much going for it.  It's great to be working with a talented staff at KZZJ.  Also love the area for it's fishing opportunities."

Eldon Borgen

Eldon joined the KZZJ staff in 2013 as Marketing Consultant.  He is a Rugby area native and has worked in advertising and marketing his entire career. 

Eldon began his professional career in Minneapolis and over the years worked at the 3 largest advertising agencies in the Twin Cities.  He joined Target Corporation's marketing department in 2003 as Sr. Creative Services Buyer and helped produce advertising campaigns for Back-to-School, Hello-Goodbuy, Christmas, Valentines Day, Mother's Day and Designer Apparel among others.

Carl Hauser



Carl joined the KZZJ staff in the fall of 2013 as the Sports Director.

Originally from Fergus Falls, MN, Carl attended Concordia College in Moorhead. He played football and was a History and Political Science major(s). After a few years in his hometown doing sports broadcasting and working at Target, Carl attended Brown College in Mendota Heights, MN. There he studied Radio Broadcasting and graduated in August of 2013.

He enjoys sports and long walks on the beach.

Barbara Austin

Barbara joined the Rugby Broadcasters staff in 2016 as a marketing consultant. Her career has been in sales and marketing for over 30 years. While living in Florida, she worked in the swimming pool industry as a designer selling new pools and renovation of existing pools then as an account executive in wholesale distribution of swimming pool equipment. Prior to living in Florida, she was the owner of an interior decorating business in Michigan.

Barbara and mother moved to Rugby in 2016 to be with family. Her daughter Kelly, son-in-law Tom and five grand children live in Rugby. Her daughter Suzanne lives in commerce township Michigan. Barbara enjoys watching football, hockey and nascar. Her hobbies are gardening and all outdoor activity.

Charli Werner

Charli is the afternoon on air personality for KKWZ, Rugby's new FM station. Originally "just in town for the summer", she took a summer job with Rugby Broadcasters in 2016. She quickly fell in love with the station and the town of Rugby, deciding to stay and raise her two children. Charli was born and raised in southeastern Texas and studied Mass Communications at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. In college she was known on her local classic rock station as "Eight Track." She worked as a graphic designer and screen printer for 10 years before re-joining the world of broadcasting. She loves anything and everything to do with music and music trivia. Charli can usually be found singing. "I'm elated to have the opportunity to help Rugby Broadcasters grow and to raise my two children in Rugby."
